I dont like those G-shocks because they are so large on the smaller wrist. If you have a 6 inch wrist, you just cant use those.

In my opinion what defines the intended sex is certain aesthetics details and lug width. A thin ribbon of a strap always looks too feminine. Case size itself doesn't matter: people fought WWII with sub-35mm watches.

If a brand only uses male models for their watches that is marketed towards men. And watches without people are hard to get a sense if scale. Unisex marketing just looks weird when everything has been by default marketed towards men

Agree with you, just buy and wear whatever you feel suits. I have watches ranging from 36 to 44 mm in my collection and as far as I'm concerned, they all look good !! I have the same size wrist as you.

I totally agree with you , Bought a Casio tank for a nice price but after it arrived , (having noticed its small dimentions IRL) I realized it was marketed to women even has the denomination LTP instead of MTP , either way I still wear it and its amazing how light and comfortable the small square wears

I can't stand that every smaller watch has to be a "women's" watch with fake diamonds and pearlescent material. The other day for shits and giggles I got a cheap casio a168 just to see what it was like and I was surprised by how small and light and comfortable it was. I sized the bracelet for my girlfriend and let her try it out and now it's her work and casual occasions watch. Since then I was thinking about getting her a Baby G because I think it would be a little better for beating around in the garden and going to the beach, but almost all come in really goofy pastel colors she wouldn't like. Also the other day I ran into a guy wearing a 34mm air king with explorer numerals, it was basically just a smaller blue explorer, and it was the perfect watch for him. I have a much bigger wrist but it made me want one.

If I see it labeled a unisex watch, I tend to think it will be smaller than what I want. If I see it labeled as women's watch I'm sure it will be (also, probably too pretty) unless I see something right away to contradict it. Like a wrist shot of it looking larger. It's not that I categorically dismiss a women's watch from a potential buyers point of view.

Historically, "Gent's" and "Unisex" were (in my experience at least) basically sizing guides. This would be unnecessary if the case size was more prominent. The number of listings and reviews where the size is buried in the small print, or omitted entirely, is frustrating. The 3 most important considerations for me when looking at a watch online are how it looks in general, how big it is (how it will look on my wrist) and how much it costs. Some RUclipsrs deliberately hide the last 2 so as not to lose the views of those who would know that a 35mm £5000 watch will be of no interest to them. If a watch is labelled as "unisex", it tells me that it is almost certainly smaller than what I am looking for. Labelling a watch a "ladies" watch is potentially unhelpful, which is why they are generally labelled "unisex". Generally there has been little stigma attached to women wearing men's clothing, but there has been the other way round.

Like the gunmetal finish and mineral and QR strap is at least a move in the right direction. The biggest dislike for me is the vast amount of wasted space on the dial - fit a bigger display!

Marketing watches qs gender specific doesnt bother me at all, outside of the fact that i might have overlooked cool pieces like this. Love the video, didnt know this existed. I might pick up the rose gold and black

I'm only a third through the video, but in general, if marketing to enthusiasts...skip the male/female stuff because they know the sizes they like. If marketing fashion watches to the general public (muggles?), perhaps the male/female specific labels help.

How silly. If a woman is wearing it in a photo then who cares but if this Casio was branded under Baby G then I would walk away. Also, I don't like how Casio and G-shock both appear at 6 o'clock. Wish the Casio branding was at twelve o'clock.

If i can add to your rant, Swiss brands please stop making only the women's models in quartz (and that obviously means it's jeweled up), men also uses quartz watches and some even prefer it, it's rather annoying going gofr example going to the Omega website and and being unable to find something like a Constellation in Quartz in a bigger size.

Look at the size of sunglasses that most women wear. The idea that womens watches should be small ended about the same time that 34mm was a mans size watch, well other than a dress watch. There's nothing wrong with smaller dress and even divers. I have a 35mm Omega dress watch and a 36mm Omega Seamaster. Though I must admit I prefer 38-42mm watches generally speaking.

I suppose a counter argument might be that Casio already appeals and sells to male watch collectors (and females who like them too) but if pushing a watch as being specifically for females results in a few additional sales Casio wouldn’t otherwise make then it’s worth it 🤷‍♂️ Either way, I see this watch as being a bit like a G Shock take on the venerable F91W. I’m not sure they totally nailed the execution but I can see what they were maybe going for.

Jomashop and Worldofwatches definitely divide their watch offerings into men’s and women’s. Maybe it’s just tradition, maybe they’re old old-fashioned discount sellers.

You're right though, Casio have missed a trick labeling this as a ladies watch. Especially with that size of strap. Saying that though, they'd be loads of ladies who wouldn't buy a watch due to it being for men, so can see from both sides of the coin. I think they'll sell them regardless of marketing ploy.

I’m wearing a Certina Stella with a titanium band. 32mm, ETA Precidrive movement, quartz accurate to 10 seconds a year. 6.5” or 17cm wrist. The 32mm is a tad small, but it’s so light and comfortable to wear.

My wife caught my watch bug. She likes the bigger look. 42mm and above and her wrist is about 6.5 My wrist is only a little bigger and yet I cannot stand anything under 38mm and even 38mm feels too small for me if I wear short sleeves. I think all watches should be just as you said. Here is the watch. You like it, you buy it!

You can decide the watch you want to wear and the brand can decide the way the market it. The marketing team at Seiko are obviously know the difference between men and women. Confusion in this area is radical leftist crap 👎
